Adding “Extras” to a Reservation

Some hosts offer amenities or equipment that you can add to your reservation. These Extras are always optional. You are not required to select them in order to book a host’s vehicle.

About Extras

Extras are optional additions to your reservation, offering you greater convenience and comfort.

If a host offers Extras, they will appear on the vehicle’s listing page. You are not required to select an Extra to book a vehicle.

You can choose Extras when booking your reservation or add or remove them until the scheduled start time of your reservation. To add or remove Extras, open the “Bookings” tab, find and open your reservation, and tap/click on “Modify Reservation.”

Types of Extras

Amenities

One type of Extra is amenities—these include options like prepaid fuel refueling, prepaid EV charging, or unlimited mileage.

Note on two popular amenity Extras:
If you purchase a prepaid refueling Extra, you will not receive a refund for any unused fuel. If you purchase a pet Extra, your host may report a cleaning issue and charge a violation fee if there are signs of a cleaning issue after the reservation, which could only result from irresponsible or abusive behavior.

Equipment

Another type of Extra is equipment—these are items like child safety seats, picnic baskets, bicycles, kayaks, camping gear, coolers, and other items.

Note on child safety seats:
We encourage renters to use their own child safety seats and refer to reliable sources on how to install them. If you need help installing a child safety seat in the host’s vehicle, we advise you to consult a professional.

Cost of Extras

Hosts set a price between €0 and €999 for an Extra and charge it per day or per reservation, so read the terms carefully. We will display the cost of any Extras as a separate line item on the checkout screen before you finalize your booking. If, at the start of a reservation, the host does not provide an Extra item you purchased, we will refund the cost of that item.

Protection Program Coverage for Extras

Sync is not responsible for any damage, injury, bodily harm, or losses of any kind caused by Extras or the use of Extras. Hosts may seek compensation for lost or damaged Extras. If they do, it will be outside of Sync, without our involvement, and in accordance with our Terms of Use.

Prohibited Extras

Sync prohibits hosts from offering certain Extras. These include: illegal, obscene, or inappropriate items; food, alcohol, drugs, or weapons; rental property use; deposits; towing or towing services; and anything that violates Sync’s Terms of Use, Prohibited Uses, or Community Guidelines. If you discover that a host is offering any prohibited Extras, click “Report this listing” on the Vehicle’s page.
