You can choose your preferred pickup and return location when searching for a vehicle on Sync.
Pickup Selection
Start your vehicle search by entering either an address or a point of interest, such as an airport, port, train station, or hotel, and selecting your booking dates. Then, filter the search results to see all available pickup options—vehicles that can be picked up at your selected address or point of interest.
Once you select a pickup location, we will display the check-in method set by the host for that location. Some hosts charge a delivery fee for pickup at specific locations. If a delivery fee applies to your chosen pickup location, it will be displayed next to the location in the vehicle listing. This fee covers the host's cost of bringing the vehicle to you at the selected location and picking it up there at the end of the booking.
Payment for Pickup and Parking
Airport Fee
This is a fee collected by Sync and paid to the airport to allow the host to deliver a vehicle there. Sync does not set, increase, or retain any portion of this fee. It is separate from any pickup or return charges from your host. This fee may appear on the checkout screen as an "Airport Fee," "License Recovery Fee," or "Operator Fee."
Delivery Fee
If you choose to have the host deliver the vehicle to you, they may charge a delivery fee. We will charge the delivery fee as part of your total booking cost. If you decide to have the host deliver the vehicle after your booking is already confirmed, the delivery fee will be charged at that time. The delivery fee covers the host’s cost to drop off the vehicle at the start of the booking and pick it up at the end.
The host sets this fee. During your search, you can use a filter to set a delivery fee range that you are comfortable with. You must pay for delivery through the Sync system. Direct payments to the host violate our Grey Market Transactions policy and Terms of Service. If you paid for delivery but later changed your booking to pick up the vehicle yourself at a nearby location, we will initiate a refund to your registered payment method.
Parking Fee
If you are picking up a vehicle at a parking facility that requires a fee to exit, the host must disclose this information in their vehicle listing. Carefully review the listing before booking to check for any parking fees associated with the pickup and to determine whether you will be responsible for this cost.
Changing Pickup or Return Location
You cannot select different locations for pickup and return when booking. However, once your booking is confirmed or in progress, you can request to change the pickup or return location. The new location must be one where the host already offers pickup or be within their pickup radius.
If the price for the new return location differs from the original, the delivery fee (if paid) may change. If you change only the return location, we will calculate a new delivery fee that is 50% of the fee for the original location plus 50% of the fee for the new location.
Note: Your host has eight hours (or less if your booking starts or ends sooner) to approve or decline your request to change the pickup or return location. If they do not respond or reject your request, you must pick up and/or return the vehicle at the originally booked location.
Coordinating Pickup with Your Provider
Your host may have included pickup instructions in the vehicle listing, so check there for details. If meeting the host in person, use Sync messaging to confirm how, where, and when to meet. Hosts are not allowed to ask renters to drive them home after vehicle delivery. Contact us if your host makes such a request.
The booking starts when you receive the keys or unlock a remote vehicle. It does not include the time the host takes to meet you. The fuel used and the miles driven by the host to deliver the vehicle are their responsibility, not yours. Take a photo of the fuel level and odometer reading when you pick up and return the vehicle.
Managing Airport Restrictions or Bans
If we notify you of a restriction or ban preventing Sync vehicle pickups and returns at an airport where you have arranged pickup, message your host immediately. Once you agree on a new pickup and/or return location, request the change in the Sync system. Only changes made through the system are valid. If you cannot or do not want to switch to an alternative location, you may cancel your booking.
If you arrive at the airport to pick up the vehicle after the ban has started, the vehicle will not be there. If you attempt to return the vehicle after the ban has started, there will be no legal place to leave it. Violating the ban could have serious legal consequences for you and Sync.
