Sync gives you the option to protect yourself from claims made by the vehicle owner in case of damage during your booking.
The possibility of damage cannot be ruled out, and it is natural for the vehicle owner to seek compensation. When you make your booking, we offer you the option to choose a plan that partially or fully covers your obligation to compensate the owner, relieving you of this responsibility.
The Plans
When making your booking, you’ll be shown the available protection plans for the vehicle you are reserving. For each plan, you will see:
The additional cost per day
The maximum amount you may be required to pay in case of damage
Whether any security deposit will be held on your card
In most plans, a guarantee (security deposit) is held from your card at the start of the rental. This amount corresponds to the maximum deductible based on the plan selected. It is fully refundable at the end of the rental, provided there are no damage claims. The release time depends on your card issuer and may take up to 10–14 days.
What you will see when booking
When you reach the payment stage, three protection plan options are displayed. You can choose no plan, in which case an amount will be reserved as a guarantee (not a charge) on your card.
If you choose one of the available protection plans, the guarantee that is reserved is reduced accordingly or may not need to be reserved at all, depending on the plan you choose.
When you reach the booking page, you will see in detail all the amounts and charges that apply to each option whether you choose a protection plan or not.
The guarantee is automatically reserved at the start of the rental and corresponds to your maximum contribution in case of damage.
Upon completion of the rental and if there are no damages, the guarantee is fully refunded. The release by the bank may take from 2 to 10 (in the worst cases) business days depending on your bank's procedures.
For premium or deluxe category vehicles, the corresponding guarantee amounts are higher.
