Please review our policies and applicable fees to avoid unexpected charges.
Excess Mileage Fee – If you exceed the mileage included in your booking, your host may charge you an additional mileage fee for each extra kilometer you drive.
Extended Use – If you return a vehicle 30 minutes or more late, your host may charge you for additional use.
Claims Processing Fee – If you or your host submit a claim for vehicle damage and Sync manages it, we will charge a claims processing fee of up to €150. There are no fees if you and your host resolve the claim directly.
Cleaning Policy Violation Fee – If you return the vehicle in a condition that can only result from irresponsible or abusive behavior, we may charge you a violation fee of €150, plus an additional 3% processing fee. In some circumstances, at our sole discretion, we may remove you from Sync.
Electric Vehicle Charging Fee – If you return an electric vehicle with a battery charged less than when you picked it up, your host may charge you a fee of €50 for a 0%-20% charge, €20 for a 21%-50% charge, and €10 for a 51%-80% charge.
Fuel Replacement Fee – If you do not refuel before returning a vehicle, your host may charge you a fee of €10 plus the cost of replacing the fuel.
Grey Market Policy Violation – If you make a payment outside of Sync for charges that should be settled through the platform, we may charge you a processing fee of €150 plus final damages of €5,500 as per our Terms of Use.
Renter Cancellation Fee (outside of the free period) –
- If your booking is for one or two days, you will pay one day’s booking charge, i.e., one day calculated at the average daily booking price.
- If your booking is for 3 to 8 days, you will pay half the total booking cost, calculated at the average daily booking price.
- If your booking is for 8 days or more, you will pay the equivalent of 4 days, calculated at the average daily booking price.
You will be refunded for the full amount of the protection program, any Extras you have purchased, and the delivery cost if your booking includes it.
No-show Fee
- If your booking was for one or two days, you will be charged 75% of one day's booking cost, calculated at the average booking price. For example: If the cost for one day is €50, and your booking was for 2 days costing €100, we will keep 75% of one day’s cost, i.e., €37.5, and refund you €62.5.
- If your booking was for 3 or more days, you will be charged for 2 days’ booking, calculated at the average booking price, and we will refund the remaining amount. In any case, we will refund the amounts for any Extras you have purchased, young driver fee, insurance program, and 50% of the delivery fee.
Idle Fee/Tesla Supercharger Idle Fee – If your vehicle remains plugged into a charger after the battery is fully charged, we will charge you a fee per idle minute. You are responsible for up to €500 in idle fees and Tesla Supercharger fees, including idle fees, that arise during a booking.
Improper Return Fee – Sync may charge you a €50 improper return fee if you fail to respond to requests to return a vehicle, abandon a vehicle, cause a booking to be canceled, or for other reasons deemed by Sync.
Late Return Fee
Policy
Guests are expected to return the host's vehicle on time. If you are delayed, you must request an extension via Sync as soon as possible. You can do this anytime while the booking is active. A booking change is valid only if the request is made via Sync and the host accepts it there.
You will not be able to extend a booking if:
- The host does not respond or accept the request.
- The vehicle is unavailable for all or part of the extra time.
- You do not have sufficient funds in your payment account.
If you cannot request an extension, you must return the vehicle at the originally scheduled end time or immediately if the booking’s end time has passed.
Violations
If a guest keeps a host's vehicle beyond the scheduled end time without approval via Sync, the host may charge for additional use and related fees, and we may cancel the guest’s protection program.
- 0-29 minutes late: No charge
- 30 minutes to 1 hour 59 minutes late: the guest is charged for half an extra day of booking.
- 2 hours or more late: the guest is charged for an additional day of booking.
- The improper return fee may be applied if the guest is not available for contact, abandons the vehicle, causes the booking to be canceled, or for other reasons determined by Sync.
Non-Smoking Policy Violation Fee – Neither you nor your passengers are allowed to smoke in any vehicle on Sync. If your host provides confirmed evidence of smoking, we will charge you a violation fee of €150 plus an additional 3% processing fee.
Processing Fee – If a host's compensation issue requires intervention from Sync, we will charge a processing fee of 3%.
Pet and Animal Policy Violation Fee – If you return a vehicle with an excessive amount of pet hair or transport a pet without permission in a vehicle not marked as "pet-friendly," your host may charge you a pet cleaning fee of €150.
Tesla Supercharger Congestion Fee – Tesla charges this fee instead of an idle fee at certain Tesla charging locations. You are responsible for up to €500 in Supercharger fees, including congestion fees, arising during a booking.
Toll Administration Fees – Toll services may add administrative fees to charges. You are responsible for administrative fees related to speeding fines resulting in toll collection points.
Fine Liability Transfer Fee – You may be charged a convenience fee of €30 to compensate the host for completing a traffic fine liability transfer.
