This policy defines Sync’s stance on smoking in vehicles listed on the platform and provides guidelines for handling violations.
Policy
Sync’s no-smoking policy covers, but is not limited to, the use of tobacco products, marijuana or marijuana substitutes, electronic cigarettes, or personal vaporizers.
Smoking is strictly prohibited in any vehicle listed on the platform—regardless of whether a host or a previous guest may have done so. Hosts must ensure that vehicles are smoke-free for guests.
Violations
Violations by Hosts
If you detect a smoke odor from any of the prohibited substances at check-in, contact Sync immediately to report the issue. You will have the option to cancel your booking for a full refund or receive assistance in rebooking another vehicle using the funds from the canceled reservation.
To report a smoking issue, tap the Chat.
Violations by Guests
Sync enforces a strict no-smoking policy, allowing hosts to report clear physical evidence of smoking. If there is definitive proof that you or your passengers smoked in a vehicle, you will be charged a €150 smoking violation fee plus a 3% processing fee, and your Sync account may be suspended.
Hosts can report a smoking violation and charge the violation fee if they submit photos or other documentation proving any of the following:
- Ash traces in check-out photos that were not present in check-in photos.
- A smoked cigarette or rolled marijuana cigarette found in the vehicle.
- Clear and convincing ash evidence that can be distinguished from sand, dirt, or dust and indicates misuse of the vehicle’s interior.
- Undeniable evidence or statements from a host confirming smoking in violation of Sync’s policy.
